Junior Walker was the hardest hitting funkster on the generally urbane Motown label. Here, clarinet and saxophonist Don Byron uses Walker's gritty James Brown style as a launching pad for his own seriously funked up explorations. While Byron's outings are often appreciated by a select jazz audience, this one deserves to break out to jam rockers, acid jazzers and partygoers of all stripes.
