Chet Baker's had plenty of comeback albums, but this one from 1974 is among his finest. His trumpet work is especially strong here and his breathy vocals sound as if they were beamed in from the 1950s. Sharing the bill are Ron Carter, Bob James (on Fusion-era Rhodes), Hubert Laws and Paul Desmond, who proves himself to be Baker's perfect foil on "Autumn Leaves" and "Tangerine."
