Onetime darlings of the trendy NYC dance-punk scene, Liars have become a lot more interesting since starting to do stuff like writing entire albums about witches (They Were Wrong, So We Drowned) and getting weird in Berlin (Drum's Not Dead). Liars finds the reconfigured trio messing with a form of dance-punk again, but with so much more going on -- surf guitars, Jesus and Mary Chain-style high-ghost vocals and beats that are anything but friendly. "What Would They Know," "Freak Out" and "Clear Island" dispel their status as dance-punk flavors of the week.
