The Farewell Drifters
With their shaggy mops and faux-vintage denim, the Farewell Drifters look like the kind of indie dudes who might dabble in Americana and country-rock. But lo and behold, Sweet Summer Breeze, their debut album, is classic country-folk steeped in the sounds of early '70s progressive bluegrass. It's obvious these youngsters from Nashville have studied all those great old records by the Country Gentlemen and Sam Bush's Bluegrass Alliance. They even cover the Flying Burrito Bros.' chestnut "Wheels."
