Forty years of Carlos Santana's contributions to the rock pantheon are examined in this expansive collection. Staying away from the hits ("Samba Pa' Ti" and "Europa" are the only cuts a casual fan would recognize) and concentrating on the years that came after "Oye Como Va" and "Black Magic Woman," Multi-Dimensional Warrior's 28 tracks were personally chosen by the veteran guitarist and specifically arranged to mark high points in his career. The majority of the music is culled from his last half-dozen albums and cover Santana's explorations of soul, new age and instrumental pop.
