The Byrds' sophomore album starts out with the title track, from which the overused phrase "chiming guitars" was probably invented. It's that instrument's sparkling, crystalline ringing sound that makes these tracks come alive. Gene Clark gets a star turn on "Set You Free This Time," but it's McGuinn's Rickenbacker that dominates this album.
