If anyone could give indie rock a boost of classy swagger, it would be a couture model married to Jack White. In comes runway beauty/singer-songwriter Karen Elson, who called upon her famous hubby to produce her debut album. White has always done a good job giving female musicians their deserved spotlight, and he continues to do so for his wife, playing the understated technician behind Elson's leading lady performance. She's kind of a British Charlotte Gainsbourg; her dreamy, smoky retro-tinged folk/pop comes shrouded in an intriguing sense of mystery.
