Tempting evidence of artificial intelligence arrives with this EP from Toronto's Jason Amm. The title references a Yamaha CS5 synthesizer once owned by Richard D. James, aka Aphex Twin, which found its way into Amm's arms and is responsible for every sound on the record. What else but a ghost in the machine could give this a spirit so like Aphex Twin's sci-fi fantasias? Humanists will surmise that Amm is simply one hell of an interpreter; his own voice shines through in the music's sense of restraint. Whatever your thoughts on the Singularity, it's a singular delight.
