Don't judge the former RBD singer's debut full-length album by its cover. Or perhaps more accurately, don't get so distracted by the purple hair, Barbie makeup and, um, cleavage that you discount the serious pop star power this former telenovela actress is packing. Extranjera is a near pitch-perfect display of pop craftsmanship and, especially, persona. It skips from sticky-sweet bubblegum to sultry dance cuts, from soapy ballads to, well, a lot more bubblegum. True to her name, Dulce Maria's light-as-simple-syrup vocals perfectly sweeten every style she tries.
