The best thing about Oddisee's new album is his conversational approach. When he vows to make authentic hip-hop on "That Real," or strives to establish a music career on "Let It Go," he speaks directly to his audience. The DC rapper/producer's stiff and formal lyrical technique may ultimately weigh down People Hear What They See, but it still creates an intimate connection with a charismatic and likeable artist. The stoned soul loops of "Let It Go" and "Way in Way Out" are just icing on the cake.
