This is the first of two EPs leading to Miguel's Kaleidoscope Dream, which is scheduled for release in October. The first single, "Adorn," is a hypnotic piece of synthetic soul and deep, shattering bass; "Don't Look Back" ends with a lyric from The Animals' "Time of the Season," while "Use Me" is buffeted by swirling guitar and echo effects. "Defile me," he sings on the latter, but he seems to have bigger ambitions than that. By picking up the gauntlet thrown down by alternative R&B stars Frank Ocean and The Weeknd, he's building toward one of the most anticipated releases of 2012.
