Borknagar

A sort of Black Metal supergroup, Borknagar was formed by Oystein Garnes Brun after the dissolution of his band, Molested. Moving beyond its members' Black Metal foundations, the group has evolved into something more epic, more Nordic. Brun's vocals ring out clear as a cold wind, or hoarse as a battle cry; harmonies and keyboards take on a sinister, menacing sound. But for all the strength and aggression of Borknagar's guitars, the group still maintains atmospheric harmonies through folk progressions and blast beats. For the trainspotters, Borknagar's lineup -- which has seen some changes -- has featured the talents of Garm of Ulver and Arcturus, Bjornson of Enslaved, Infernus of Gorgoroth and Grim of Immortal and Gorgoroth.
