Personal tragedy may have brought Crowded House back together, but that doesn't make Time On Earth any less of a triumph. The Smiths' Johnny Marr cowrote "Even a Child" and plays guitar on the single "Don't Stop Now" (which, like "She Called Up," deserves constant rotation on God's transistor radio). Cuts like "Silent House" and the achingly beautiful "English Trees" deal with the fallout of drummer Paul Hester's suicide. Like all great pop songs, though, these latest Crowded House numbers will end up commenting on and complementing events in your own life.
