This 1999 release was Sylvian's first solo outing in some time. Dead Bees doesn't hang together as a complete album the way some of his other LPs do, but it still has many beautiful tracks on it. The languorous opener "I Surrender" grows in quiet power as it rolls along, stinging Delta blues pop up in the otherwise lovely "Midnight Sun" and "Cafe Europa" could almost fit on Sylvian's masterpiece, Secrets of the Beehive.
