Eric Matthews caught critics' ears with the band Cardinal before releasing his own intense, orchestral rock albums. Matthews uses the symphonic pop of the 1960s as a springboard for his own modern sound. The only thing missing from his work are the moments of breezy fun that his heroes -- like the Beach Boys -- embraced.
