The setting in Anytown, U.S.A., should be a tip-off, but this easy-listening debut from Five for Fighting bears some bland fruit under featureless titles such as "Love Song." And although "Michael Jordan" is a dim highlight, the song about that other American hero, "Superman," was songwriter John Ondrasik's biggest commercial triumph. The key here is Ondrasik's well-used falsetto, which makes all the cookie-cutter issues of the heart seem a bit more momentous.
