Jason Michael Carroll
Jason Michael Carroll grew up living grudgingly under the rules set by his conservative Christian father/preacher, which, among other things, meant secular music wasn't allowed in the house. But once Carroll was bitten by the music bug, his mother supported him, filling out the entry forms for a talent contest in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jason Michael won the contest and caught the ear of Hootie & the Blowfish's manager, Rusty Harmon. Harmon was instrumental in getting Carroll signed to Arista and hooking him with producer Don Gehman (John Mellencamp, R.E.M., Hootie & the Blowfish). In 2007, Carroll released his debut album, Waitin' in the Country. Buoyed by the heart-wrenching single "Alyssa Lies," his debut hit the top of the country charts and managed a respectable Top 10 showing on the pop charts. In 2009, Carroll followed up with his sophomore effort, Growing Up is Getting Old.
