Jimmy Reed stands as one of the few true innovators of the blues. His steady rolling songs are as distinctive as they are influential. The Stones' whole early schtick was lifted directly from "Ain't That Lovin' You Baby," Chuck Berry revved-up ReedÂs rhythms to construct the vocabulary of rock 'n' roll and ReedÂs own laid-back, slightly stoned vocals are definitive.
