Granted, this isn't your average children's album: it's a slice of Americana, an introduction to one of the country's most influential blues artists, and kids' music all wrapped up in one. But give it a minute or two: many of the songs Leadbelly sings here made it into the pantheon of American children's music, "Skip To My Lou" and "The Blue Tailed Fly" among them, and Leadbelly's singing and storytelling is compelling for adults and kids alike.
