R. Kelly is such a smooth-talker in the bedroom-voiced booty-jam kind of way, it's easy to forget he's quite the sweet talker. Love Letter takes its title literally, with virtually every track waxing amorous. The soul sonnets are anchored by Kels' trademark urban music metaphors: you're his "Number One Hit," love is a "Radio Message." There's even an ode to "lady music." Couched in a history-spanning range of styles (the synth-fortified take on an Otis Redding waltz of "When a Woman Loves" is especially nice) and sans the standard Auto-Tuning, Kelly's voice soars and swells.
