On their fourth album since they graduated to standard-bearing indie blues label Alligator, this four-decade-plus Rhode Island octet downplays ballads. Of a dozen cuts, they only slow down for the sleazing cheated-on screamer "Kill Me," the Lieber-Stoller blues "It" and the five-minute Floyd Dixon soul-jazz workout "Time Brings About a Change." Otherwise, pianos boogie-woogie and saxes honk: After horns call-and-respond with guitar in the punchy Gatemouth Brown instrumental "Gate Walks To Board," Amos Milburn's jump-blues "Juice, Juice, Juice" celebrates the loosening properties of alcohol.
