After installments from Groove Armada and The Cinematic Orchestra, Trentemoller is a no-brainer for the Late Night Tales series. The title could fit any of the Danish producer's dusky, sensual recordings, which combine downbeat electronica with tricks cribbed from the likes of Chris Isaak. He covers the latter's "Blue Hotel" here, setting the scene for a cozy 78 minutes of tunes from This Mortal Coil, Mazzy Star and even The Shangri-Las. Sticking mostly to atmospheric rock, he reminds us that makeout music existed long before trip-hop.
