French Pop's roots are in the 1960s Euro-Pop of big stars like France Gall, Francoise Hardy and Serge Gainsbourg. Brigitte Bardot and Jane Birkin went off-screen and into the recording studio, inspiring a multitude of sexy-voiced singers to follow. Current prominent French Pop artists include the retro-futurist bands Air, Auteur de Lucie and Stereo Total.
